Thursday, August 16, 2018: Service to others!

(Taken from the day’s Reading: Morning Prayer for Thursday: Psalter Week 3; The Breviary (Ab.V. pp 584)

“Each one of you has received a special grace, so, like good stewards responsible for all these different graces of God, put yourselves at the service of others. If you are a speaker, speak in words which seem to come from God; if you are a helper, help as though every action was done at God’s orders; so that in everything, God may receive the glory through Jesus Christ”. (1 Peter 4:10-11)

This is the Kingdom of God being established on earth. I am told today to put myself at the service of others since I have received a special grace from God through Jesus Christ. This is the message I wish to share with you today, because you too have received this special grace from God. It is in you; it’s just to fan it into flame.

The message of today calls for a deep reflection. God has put something special in you because he made you for a purpose, which he expects you to fulfill, because he has also given you power to fulfill that purpose. But most times, the problem is that a lot of people do not know this purpose. Some who already know do not know how to go about it.

We should ask ourselves these questions today: What is this grace I received from God? How does this grace manifest in my life? When and where does it manifest? These are the first things you must find out before you can now put them to use according to the will of God and to His glory. What are the gifts you have? Is it writing? Is it singing? Is it teaching? Is it that of helping people? Find out today and put that to the service of others without discrimination.

We are therefore, called today to, first find out our purpose on earth; activate the grace of God in you and then put it to use. The best way to put it to use is by serving others diligently as you would serve God himself. Work everyday as if you are receiving direct orders from God. Make sure that through your actions, you preach the love of God for that glorifies God through Jesus Christ.

We have been given power to become children of God, (John 1:12); so we must live as God’s children fulfilling the will of our Father. In this, we bless ourselves and glorify God.

He lives! He reigns forever!
